STILL LIFE
Who has somewhere they love to visit when they just want to relax? Who has several? Who has had to find somewhere new because times change?
The desire to encapsulate core memories in painting so we can relive these in future times can be seen as a reflection of our unyielding attitude towards the inevitability of change in time. Here is the view from a lounge window. A lot of time is spent at night leaning over the window ledge, staring at this peaceful seascape. Whatever our attitude towards time is, we can never escape the need to retain these happy memories through the static medium of paint. Photographs just aren't as committed.
